Lincoln’s Conservative parliamentary candidate, Karl McCartney has welcomed the announcement that Zhuzhou CRRC Times Electric UK Innovation Centre in in Lincoln will benefit from a share of a £25 million Government fund for developing ground-breaking green technologies for new vehicles.
Zhuzhou CRRC Times Electric UK Innovation Centre will receive £1.3million to develop technologies that will help the UK to decarbonise transport across the country, as part of our efforts to tackle climate change and leave the environment in a better state for the next generation.
Harmful emissions have fallen by a quarter since the Conservatives came to office in 2010, but in recognition of the fact there is more to do, the Government is making £25 million available to businesses across the country to further develop green transport technologies and reduce emissions even further.
All cars will need to be zero emission by 2040 to ensure that the UK has cleaner air and a better environment. We are providing £3.5 billion to reduce emissions, and thanks to our support, the number of new Ultra Low Emission Vehicles rose by a fifth over the last year alone.
Commenting, Karl McCartney said: “I am thrilled that Zhuzhou CRRC Times Electric UK Innovation Centre in Lincoln will be receiving this funding from the government and will be able to contribute to the efforts to decarbonise Britain’s transport network.
“We must ensure that we leave our environment in a better state for the next generation, and projects like this will be crucial for achieving this.
“Emissions have fallen by a quarter since 2010 and the number of ultra low emission vehicles has risen by a fifth in the last year alone. We must build on this progress and I know that Lincoln will want to a play a full role in doing so.”
