The Member of Parliament for Lincoln, Karl McCartney MP, has welcomed news that recorded crime in Lincolnshire has fallen once again over the last twelve months. Latest figures from the independent Office for National Statistics show that since 2010 recorded crime in Lincolnshire has fallen by 18 per cent.
Commenting, Karl McCartney MP said:
‘It is great news that crime continues to fall in Lincolnshire. Hardworking local police officers in Lincolnshire can be rightly proud of their success in cutting crime, assisted and led by their Chief Constable and his senior management team.
‘We want to set the police free to fight crime. That’s why we have cut red tape and given police one simple target: cut crime.
‘People want to know they are safe on their streets and in their homes, and our plan to make sure they can is working. Crime is falling, according to both the recorded crime stats and the independent crime survey, and we will continue working to give people who do the right thing personal security.
'Whilst there have been concerns about the behaviour of some police officers around the Country that many of us wish had not arisen, I am pleased such incidents have not taken place within our Force. It is essential that the Police retain our trust and respect and maybe there are issues in relation to the configuration of the command and senior management structure that need to be addressed, as well as the undemocratic policy setting that currently takes place by ACPO.'

(Office for National Statistics, Police recorded crime year ending September 2013)
[1] For the year ending September 2013 figures, ONS are publishing headline national crime figures that include centralised (Action Fraud) recording of fraud and a separate series which excludes fraud. Due to the staggered move of recording fraud offences from forces to Action Fraud, figures for forces are shown excluding fraud offences to allow for consistent comparisons.
