Councillor Thomas Dyer, the Deputy Conservative Group Leader on City of Lincoln Council has welcomed new funding to speed up locally-led building of new homes in Lincoln.
£2,132,376 has been awarded to City of Lincoln Council, to build 52 new homes in Lincoln.
This funding is part of the Conservative Government’s £450 million Local Authority Accelerated Construction Programme, spearheaded by Communities Secretary James Brokenshire MP, which is designed to support local authorities with a range of work required to prepare specific sites for immediate development, enabling new homes to be built faster and to suit local communities’ bespoke requirements.
The Conservatives are committed to helping communities across the country such as Lincoln build well-designed homes to meet our ambitious target of delivering 300,000 homes a year by the mid-2020s.
Commenting, Councillor Thomas Dyer said:
“The Conservatives are committed to building more, better homes so that more hard-working people in Lincoln have the opportunity to own their own home.
“This announcement will enable City of Lincoln Council to build 52 new homes in the city, helping more people to get on the housing ladder and contributing to the Conservative Government’s plans to build 300,000 new homes a year by the mid-2020s.”
Minister of State for Housing, Kit Malthouse MP, said:
“We haven’t built enough homes in this country for far too long – and our accelerated construction programme is here to change that, and fast.
“This £55 million funding boost will help councils get 4,000 new homes built across the country using the latest modern methods that cut down on construction time.
“We must keep building more, better, faster to meet our ambition to building 300,000 homes a year by the mid-2020s.”
